70th India Republic Day celebration held in Mandalay

The 70th anniversary celebration of Indian Republic Day was held at India House, in Rose Road, between 62nd and 63rd Street, Mandalay today at 10 a.m.

This ceremony was attended by Mandalay Region government Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Conservation Myo Thit, invited monks, Indians origin Burmese from Mandalay, Pyinoolwin, Kyaukse, Mogok, Meiktila, Myingyan, Thazi, Sagaing, Monywa, Kalay and Tamu.

Consul General Mr. Nanda Singh Bhaisora raised the Myanmar national flag at 10 a.m. and he then read out the message sent by the Indian President for this occasion.

The objective of celebrating this occasion is reportedly for remembering the fallen martyrs who sacrificed their lives 70 years ago.

Consul General added that today is the anniversary day of the emergence of Indian constitution which enshrines liberty, justice, equity, gender equality and economic freedom for the people.

Consul General further said that the Indo-Myanmar relation is at the best situation especially after officially opening of international border pass in Tamu and Moreh on Indo-Myanmar international border and then bilateral trade, exchange of culture, sports, health, tourism, pilgrimage trips and people-to-people relations have been seen flourishing. He added that at least two delegations crossed the border a week.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Conservation Myo Thit said, “The Mandalay Region government always welcomes cooperation among people irrespective of race and creed. We are like close relations.”

The Consul General Office routinely holds performing arts shows, entertainment and cultural shows here for preserving the Indian culture among new generation of Indian diaspora in Myanmar.
