409 military assaults in Rakhine during the 20-day Junta's unilateral ceasefire - 1 civilian dead, 28 wounded, 24 structures damaged during these assaults

As per a report from the Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office/HDOC on April 24, 2025, there were 409 military assaults in Rakhine during the 20-day unilateral ceasefire announced by the military council.

The announcement indicated that on March 28, when a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit, the Myanmar Army (SAC) announced a 20-day truce from April 2 to April 22 to facilitate humanitarian assistance to the region.

Nevertheless, the military council, which disregarded the unilaterally declared ceasefire, conducted 409 assaults on Kyaukphyu, Toungup, Kyauktaw, Sittwe, and Pauktaw in Rakhine state.

The assaults involved airstrikes from fighter jets, drone attacks, paratroopers, bombardments by naval ships, and artillery shelling.

One civilian lost their life, and 28 others were injured, including five children aged from 5 to 14.

It also reported that 21 homes, two stores, and a place of worship were damaged. It determined that these actions were in clear breach of international humanitarian law.

Clashes persist on the fringes of Sittwe and Kyaukphyu, two of the three cities currently under military rule in Rakhine State, as junta forces carry out daily airstrikes involving both jet fighters and drone attacks.
