3 Military Personnel Killed and 16 Captured Alive in Hpapun: KNU

The clashes between Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)’s Brigade 5 and junta forces intensified in Mae Paw Hta village of KNU’s Hpapun District on March 11 and at least 3 soldiers were killed and 16 other captured alive, according to KNU news outlet, Muhtaw.

The fighting between KNLA Brigade 5 and Kawkareik-based 97th infantry regiment broke out  from 11 am to 5 pm in Mae Paw Hta village, Dwelow township, Hpapun District killing 3 junta soldiers and injuring 11.

A total of 28 weapons, including RPG and sniper rifles, were confiscated and 16 soldiers of the military council were captured alive, reported Muhtaw. There were officers among the wounded.

Four members of KNLA were injured and four villagers killed in the reckless shooting of junta forces.

The military aircraft conducted surveillance until 1 am because members of the military council were severely hit, reported KNU’s Brigade 5.
