Zoland PDF Detains Government Staff in Tedim Township

The Zoland People's Defense Force (PDF) has apprehended government staff who are implementing the State Administration Council's (SAC) forced conscription scheme to bolster its dwindling military force in Tedim Township, northern Chin State.

A PDF officer from the armed group fighting against the military regime told Khonumthung News that their soldiers picked them from their homes on Monday. “They work for the military council, cooperating with the military council by reporting about our activities. Therefore, they are our enemies, and we will fight them.” He explained that they ignored their deadline to resign from their positions and join the people resisting the dictatorship.

Lian Lam Khai (48), a General Administration Development clerk, Shin Khan Khual (48), director of the sports department for the township, Kap Sui Khual (36), an assistant engineer in the municipal department, Khual Lian Mung (55), deputy in charge of the livestock department, and Nan Sui Gin (57), a clerk in the immigration department have been detained.

“I think this is the first warning from Zoland PDF. I do not know what they will do next,” a local of Tedim town said, explaining that most of the staff who were arrested are not in senior positions, pointing out they were only following orders.

He said the GAD officer and police commander for Tedim District are responsible for carrying out the national conscription law in the township.

The PDF officer didn't say what they'll do to the detained men.

The Chinland Council and Chinland Government also released a statement on Tuesday threatening action against village and ward administrators, and individuals who help the SAC with its plans.
