In Lahe Township, Sagaing Region, Military Council troops are compelling local administration employees to undergo military training. An individual close to the Lahe Township general administration department office informed KNG that ,the 272nd Infantry Battalion in Lahe Township has been coercing employees from various departments, including the General Administration Department (GAD) and Fire Department, to undergo mandatory military training since November 20.
" They are conducting mandatory military training, beginning with General Administration Department (GAD) employees, and extending it to personnel from other departments. Despite some expressing a desire to quit their jobs and showing reluctance to attend, they are participating in the training, considering the potential consequences of resigning," he explained.
The Junta has warned that should they decide to resign during the military training, action may be taken and maybe they will be accused of involvement with the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).Consequently a significant number of employees are participating in the training.
The military training is being conducted at the military camp of the 272nd Infantry Battalion in Lahe Township. Reports indicate that nearly 100 individuals based on employees and civilians are undergoing training. The individual mentioned earlier stated that following the ongoing training for the current group conducted by the Military Council, there are plans to provide additional military training to the 10-houses-group-elders, 100-houses-group-elders, and the town’s elders.
"After they have completed their training, the Military Council plans to train the second batch, consisting of the 100 Houses Group Elders and town elders. This training is anticipated to last for 15-20 days, primarily emphasizing firearm proficiency," he explained.
Reports indicate that the Military Council plans to offer 7,000 kyats a person per day to individuals participating in military training. Additionally, they are expected to provide basic food necessities such as rice, oil, and salt.
No details have been provided regarding the intended deployment of those who complete the compulsory military training course.
Lahe Township in Sagaing Region falls within the Naga Self-Administered Zone. Following the military coup, there has been no reported conflict between the Military Council troops, the Naga armed forces and the PDF.
