AAPP Meet with Ex-Political Prisoners in Thandwe

Narinjara has learnt that members of Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) met with ex-political prisoners and their families in Thandwe township, Arakan State on 7th January.

The meeting was held at the National League for Democracy’s (NLD) Thadwe office and about 40 people from AAPP, Former Political Prisoners Society (FPPS), NLD officers and ex-political prisoners and their families attended the meeting.

In the meeting Ko Tin Maung Oo a former political prisoner said: “We will form political prisoner groups in all townships of Arakan state and have a network so that we can be in contact with each other.”

Ko Chit Ko Lin from AAPP explained how it would be organised. He said training would be supplied that would be suitable for all ex-prisoners, wherever they are located. There will also be psychological and physical assistance and support.

At the meeting participants asked questions and the ex-political prisoners filled out their biography on AAPP supplied forms.

There are many ex-political prisoners. There are also currently 26 political prisoners imprisoned in Arakan State according to U Rakha Wontha who is making a list of political prisoners.
