A businessman from Arakan State was recently arrested by the police in connection with the illegal possession of yaba tablets and ammunition, according to an Arakan State government report.

U Ye Tun Kyaw, the owner of Natural Force Company Limited, was arrested on September 1st.

The young businessman hails from the family of Dhapyu Thee Tha Kyaw, a prominent old Arakanese political dynasty. U Ye Tun Kyaw was picked up by the police from the residence of his friend in Mrauk U Township.

Notably, the police seized 301,000 yaba tablets, a block of opium weighing 350 grams, and some ammunition on August 29th in Yangon.

The police suspected that U Ye Tun Kyaw was involved with the illegal trade.

According to a police source, the businessman initially avoided arrest and fled to Arakan State from his Rangoon house. A special police team later chased him to Mrauk U and found him in one of his friends’ residences.
