Training for Women's Empowerment in Chin State

The Network for Chin Community Development (NCCD) has conducted women’s empowerment training for Chin women in three townships in northern Chin state from 20 November to 8 December 2014. The training was conducted in Far Tlang village and Zimpi village in Tidim township; Tuimawi village in Tonzang township; and Tlangpi village in Thantlang township, in northern Chin state.

The training dealt not only with women’s empowerment but also with democracy, the concept of federalism, current Myanmar politics and loans, according to Ko Simon, of the NCCD.

He said: “The local women were very interested in the training and the trainers were also satisfied with the way the training was conducted."

The NCCD works with Chin people living in remote areas of the state to help them improve their livelihoods and capabilities. Now it also helps with loans for Chin people in the Indo-Myanmar border area.
