Burmese Chin Arrested in India with 5,000 Rounds of Ammunition

An ethnic Chin Burmese citizen was arrested for being in possession of 5,000 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition 0n 16th October at Border Trade Camp No. 2 in Zokhwarhtar Village on the Indian side of the Burma-India border.

He was arrested in a joint police operation between the Mizoram force and the Assam force and is being detained by the Kyanfine Township authorities.

According to the Vanlinene News, a newspaper published in Mizoram State, India, the authorities searched a home at Zokhwarhtar village at about 3 am on the morning of 16th October. There they arrested Nang Go Tuang, a resident of Taharn Ward, Kalay Township, Chin State in Burma.

Another resident from Chin State was arrested at Khankawn checkpoint in Kyanfine Township in a car that was heading from border trade Camp No. 2 in Zokhwarhtar village to Mizoram State.

Previously, on 4th April 2014 U Za Man of Taharn Ward, Kalay Township, Chin State, Burma, was arrested in possession of an M4 A1 carbine, four AK 47 rifles and over 1200 rounds of ammunition while travelling by car from Border Trade Camp No. 2 to Mizoram.
