Strong Wind Destroys over 100 House Roofs in Karenni State

Kantarawaddy times has learned that over 100 house roofs and compound fences were destroyed in the area of Pankan Village-Tract in Loikaw Township, Karenni State when strong wind and rain struck at about noon on 8th January.

The areas affected were the Shan ward of Nam-Baw-Wam, the Gurkha ward of Nam-Baw-War, both in Pankan Village-Tract and 500 acres of land nearby.

House Destroyed by High Winds

U Min Min Oo, the administrator of Nam-Baw-Wam ward said: “The damage happened at about 12.15pm during heavy wind and rain which stopped at about 12.35. The damage happened within those 20 minutes. House roofs were flipped over and some house fences collapsed.

U Myo Min, also from Nam-Baw-Wam Ward said that all the roofs were ruined and useless.

Government departments, Non-government Organization (NGOs) and social organizations made a list of the damage and they are making plans to provide assistance and support said a village-tract administrator.
