Three Karenni women were killed when the military vehicle they were traveling in overturned. The women were on their way to Loikaw from Shardaw Township in Karenni State. Unfortunately, the military vehicle accidentally overturned before reaching its destination.

On February 9, Burmese Army battalions based in Shardaw Township changed their personnel with those from new battalions. Six military vehicles were used for the change of personnel. One vehicle, which was taken by Maj. Ye Hein, incidentally overturned as it was on its way to Loikaw.

Phaw Myar, aged 21, Buu Myar, aged 22, and Oo Myar, aged 22, as well as two soldiers, were killed on the spot in the incident. Maj. Ye Hein and 10 other soldiers received injuries.

“Three Kayah women were incidentally killed on the spot. They are from Shardaw,” Saw Htee Htar Sway, an officer from the Karenni Army, said.

The incident occurred as the Infantry Battalion 247 (IB 247) was changing its duty with the Light Infantry Battalion 332 (LIB 332) under MOC 2 (Military Operation Command) based in Shardaw.
