MRTV 4 reporter shot dead by PDF in Dawei

In Kaleinaung town in Dawei, an MRTV 4 reporter ( Myanmar Radio and Television) was shot and killed on the spot, residents said.

The MRTV4 reporter, was shot dead while working as a military informer according to Lin Yone, information officer of the People’s Defense Forces based in Kaleinaung.

Locals said that the deceased was Ko Lin Lin Tun, who lived with his family in Kaleinaung Ward No. 3, Yebyu Township, Dawei District, and was providing information to light infantry battalion 410.

Lin Yone, the PDF information officer in Kaleinaung, said, “He always played billiards while collecting news in the billiards hall. I have been watching him for a long time. In the evening, when there was busy crowd, he sent news from the billiards table to the military. There is strong evidence," he said.

Ko Lin Lin Tun, who was at a billiard table near the construction office on Zin Bar road in Kaleinaung town, was shot dead by the People’s Defense Joint Force on January 24 at around 3:00 p.m.

The LDF (PDF) announced on the night of January 24 that the shooting was carried out by the Kaleinaung-based Spring Dhamma PDF-KLA, Dawei District People’s Defense Force (DDPDF) and allied forces.

They announced that Ko Lin Lin Tun, worked as a writer for the MRTV 4 news media, and had been writing under the code number 412, at the military-owned Myawaddy newspaper since before the seizure of power.

Residents said the body of the deceased was taken to Kaleinaung Hospital by an emergency ambulance.

About half an hour after the shooting happened, Military Council troops arrived and fired randomly at the surrounding area and conducted inspections.
