Rules on COVID-19 tests relaxed for international flight arrivals

International travellers arriving in Myanmar by air will no longer have to show a negative COVID-19 rapid diagnostic test (RDT).

The Ministry of Health under the Military Council announced on 30 November, that as of 1 December travellers arriving on international commercial flights will not have to show a negative RDT test result, as long as they have a vaccination record card showing that they are fully vaccinated.

International travellers who are not fully vaccinated will have to show a negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result from a test taken within 48 hours of their arrival in Myanmar, according to state-run newspapers.

The details will be published on 1 December 2022 in a document titled: Public Health Requirements for Travelers who wish to Enter Myanmar through International Commercial Flights.

Relief workers arriving on relief flights and travellers entering at land borders will still need to take a COVID-19 test on arrival.
