The coup council summoned the village and district administrators and pushed them to form community security groups at the earliest, the sources familiar with the matter told Than Lwin Times.

The junta-appointed Mon Chief Minister U Zaw Lin Htun told the respective administrators at the meeting held at State Hall in Mawlamyine on October 6.

At the meeting, the junta minister said that regional security, stability and the rule of law are important and that the village and district administrators should implement the security system as soon as possible, the source who attended the meeting said.

While the People’s Defense Forces and its allies cracked down on the junta subordinates — militia, Pyu Saw Htee, township/village administrator, military supporters and informants, it is unlikely to form the community security forces with the locals, he added.

The participants of the meeting reported that it is not a good time to form community security groups under the current situation, but the military council repeatedly urged them to mobilize the residents and form a security group.

In Mon State, a group of five regional development columns consisting of heads and staff from 21 township-level departments has been mobilizing since the second week of September to share information with civilians, cooperate with the military, and form community security groups as soon as possible.
