Urban guerrillas hit Myanmar junta targets in north Yangon

Urban guerrillas have claimed two successful attacks in the edgy standoff between the resistance and the Myanmar junta in Yangon.

On 29 September, the War of Hunter Revolution Force (WOH) announced that the Military Council air force and No. 981st Battalion's front gates had been bombed by urban guerrillas in Mingaladon Township, Yangon.

In the statement, WOH detonated a bomb at the front gate of the junta’s Air Force Base near the Kaala Kyaung bus-stop, Pyay Road, Mingaladon Township by remote control at around 9:00 pm on 28 September.

In another action on the same night, the Last Battle (PDF) carried out an attack at the front gate of junta’s No. 981st Battalion on No. 3 Yangon-Mandalay Highway, Mingaladon Township with a remote-controlled explosive at 9:15 pm.

Residents say they heard large explosions in Mingaladon and nearby townships and security was tightened after the incidents.

As of 29 September, casualty figures are not yet known but the guerrillas were able to retreat without being harmed, according to WOH.
