Myanmar guerrillas hit prisoner transport vehicle in Mandalay, free prisoners

Amarapura Township PDF announced that local defense forces intercepted a prisoner transport vehicle and rescued two political prisoners near Myitnge Bridge, Amarapura Township in Mandalay Region.

In the 29 September action at around 9:00 am, PDF combined forces intercepted the vehicle travelling from Kyuaukse to Mandalay near the Myitnge Bridge.

"The vehicle's two police officers perished. Two inmates who were wrongfully detained (for political reasons) have escaped. We are currently transporting the other escaped prisoners to a secure location," one of the PDF combined forces members said.

It is known that the prisoner transport vehicle transported the inmates from Obo prison to Kyaukse police station to appear in court, according to the Amarapura Township PDF.

Locals reported that after the vehicle was attacked, Military Council forces patrolled nearby villages and conducted searches.
