Two bomb attacks on Lashio government offices

The Northern Shan State Alliance Army (NSSAA) detonated two bombs at junta transport administration offices in Lashio Town in northern Shan State on 18 and 19 September.

The first explosion on 18 September took place at the traffic control office in Ward 1 of Lashio Town at around 7:00 p.m.and the second explosion on 19 September was at the Road Transport Administration Department in Lashio Town, according to the NSSAA.

They said that they had originally wanted to detonate bombs at junta strongholds in Lashio where there were more junta soldiers, but they changed targets because they were scared of injuring civilians.A Lashio resident said that two police cars were damaged in the first attack on 18 September.

“There was an explosion at the traffic control office. Both police and soldiers have tightened security and bought in many personnel”, he added.

There have not yet been any reports of damage or casualties from the second explosion at the Road Transport Administration Department.
