Two Dawei youth strike committee members arrested

The military council arrested two members of the Youth Strike Committee who were staging a non-violent protest against the dictators in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, the Dawei Youth Strike Committee reported.

Ko Aung Ko Ko Lwin, a member of the Dawei youth strike committee, was arrested by the junta in Dawei on September 9.

Then, on the morning of September 10, the military council brought Ko Aung Ko Lwin as a guide and arrested Ko Hein Zae Aung, a member of the strike committee in Dawei's Bonekyun ward.

"The military council pressured Ko Aung Ko Lwin and asked him to show Ko Hein Zay Aung's home," an official of the Dawei Youth Strike Committee told the Than Lwin Times.

As two members of the Dawei Youth Strike Committee were arrested, the Dawei Youth Strike Committee warned those related to them to flee as soon as possible and to live in a safe place.

Their family members are worried for both of them, and their whereabouts are still unknown.

Currently, the military council has tightened security in Dawei Township and arrested anti-regime activists, including those associated with the People's Defense Forces.

In Dawei Township, from the third week of August to September 9, more than 30 people were arrested, including a pregnant woman, and there were also secret detentions.
