Thanbyuzayat police checkpoint attacked, killing two policemen

The two policemen were killed in an attack on a police checkpoint on Ye-Thanbyuzayat motor road near Wekali village in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayat Township, the residents confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

An unidentified armed group attacked the police checkpoint. This checkpoint is said to have blocked the vehicles and extorted money. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In another incident, Ye Balu, armed resistance force, attacked Ye District Court in Yangyiaung ward with a 40 mm grenade at around 11 am on September 9.

It is said that the Ye Balu attacked the Ye District Court because the Ye District administrator, U San Min challenged the public defense PDFs to be captured alive.

After the office was attacked, regime forces tightened security in the township and arrested two young men riding on a motorcycle, a local said.

No one was injured in the attack on Ye District Court, but some parts of the building were damaged. The Ye District Court was also bombed on the night of September 8.

Since the shooting incident at the immigration office in Ye on August 3 that left three people dead, including a staff member, the military council has strengthened security and restricted several roads.
