Over $80,000 of NUG bonds sold at Atlanta fundraising event

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the National Unity Government (NUG) there was a fundraising event held in Atlanta in Georgia State in the U.S. where bonds were sold, on 16 April from 12 to 5 p.m.

Ko Salai Thang Thae, the organiser of the event, said that $ 84,000 worth of bonds was sold and $5,000 was given in response to fundraising. The total of $89,000 (over 1,600 lakh kyats) raised at the event will be used to fund the People's Defense Forces (PDF) and other revolutionary movements.

He said: “Let our people in Myanmar stand strong during this revolution period. We will do our best to give our support for the success of the revolution”.

The National Unity Government of Myanmar was formed on 16 April 2021, 75 days after the military coup on 1st of February, 2021.

Social media personality Ei Pan Sel Lo reportedly helped to sell bonds at the event and more than 500 Myanmar people living in and around Atlanta bought bonds. A variety of Myanmar food was also sold at the event.
