CDF Continues Raids On Junta Convoy In Southern Chin State

Chin resistance groups have been inflicting heavy casualties in several attacks on a Burma Army (BA) convoy travelling to Mutupi.

The Mindat Chinland Defence Force (CDF) ambushed the convoy of 80 vehicles, including two tanks, multiple times since it left Mindat on 25 March.

Resistance fighters uploaded a video on 29 March showing several landmines exploding simultaneously around the convoy carrying rations, equipment and men.

CDF’s spokesperson claimed the regime suffered many casualties, but couldn’t give an exact figure.

He told Khonumthung News that the military convoy, which had started its journey in Kyauk Htu in Magwe Region, had only arrived at milepost No. 70 on 5 April. The total distance between the two towns is about 102 miles.

The spokesperson said BA Infantry Battalion 304 had left Matupi and was heading to the convoy to escort it to the town. CDF killed at least 25 regime soldiers and wounded 20 others of the battalion near Old and New Chang Pyan between 31 March and 2 April. Two CDF fighters were also killed in the fighting on 2 March.

On Monday morning, the Chin National Front’s armed wing, the Chin National Army, and CDF from Paletwa attacked a BA camp at the entrance to Sami town in Paletwa Township. The Paletwa CDF told Khonumthung News that at least six BA soldiers perished during the raid.
