Myanmar junta soldier and 9 BGF members killed in Hpapun armed clash

Mutraw daily news reported that a junta soldier and nine members of a pro-junta Karen Border Guard Forces (BGF) were killed in the territory of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)/KNU 5th Brigade in Hpapun Township in Kayin (Karen) State.

The Karen National Union (KNU) confirmed that the soldier and the members of the pro-junta group were killed during fighting with the KNLA on 30 and 31 March.

A bridge used for the transportation of weapons and rations for the junta’s troops in Shan Kaing Ward, Hpapun Township was blown up on 30 March.

On that day, nine members of BGF troops were killed while they were on their way back after delivering rations for junta troops in Htekasawme (Sin Swal) and there were also some casualties of the BGF troops.

Three six-wheeler military trucks leaving from Hpapun and Makamoe (Kamamaung) were attacked twice, but the detail of the damage is not known as of the time of reporting.

Mutraw news reported that a junta battalion based in Wadosoe had been raided by the fighters of the KNLA Brigade-5 on 31 March, and a junta soldier was killed.

But the Military Council has not reported about the attack yet.

Fighting has intensified between the KNLA and the junta troops and there have also been some airstrikes by the military junta in the KNU-controlled territory.
