Old bomb explodes in Buthidaung, Muslim man killed

An old bomb exploded in Buthidaung township of Rakhine State on Sunday which killed a Muslim man.

The victim has been identified as Rofi (20 years old) hailing from Thein Taung Pyin village under the township.

Rofi and his companions from Phyon Chaung village under Buthidaung township were cutting trees inside Mayu mountain range during the evening hours of 27 March.

While witnessing an old bomb, Rofi picked it up and suddenly it exploded, informed the township administrator Kyan Aye. "It is true that there was an incident of blast and one individual was killed," he confirmed it.

One of Rofi’s companions also suffered injuries to his right back and he has been admitted in the township hospital.
