Regime Shelling Kills Kanpetlet Man

One man was killed and two women wounded by military artillery fire during fighting with the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) in Kanpetlet, southern Chin State.

A source familiar with the situation told Khonumthung News on condition of anonymity that Min Yan Aung, 32, from ward 2 was killed by a shell that hit his friend’s house while he was sleeping on the first floor.

One of the injured women is the house owner and the other woman lives in another ward in the town. The source said his body will be cremated.

The CDF reported that at least three soldiers were killed in the early Monday morning attacks on army units housed at Yan Aung Pagoda, the education department office for Kanpetlet Township, and General Administration Development office for Kanpetlet Township.

According to the civilian resistance group, none of their fighters suffered injuries before they retreated.

Khonumthung News couldn’t independently confirm this information.

Last May, CDF formed armed groups in all nine townships in Chin State to defend peaceful protesters demonstrating against the dictatorship, but soon came into conflict with the regime’s armed forces.
