Junta soldiers fire volleys in the air in Khayan as junta administrators leave their posts

Junta forces fired their guns into the air in some areas of Khayan Township, Yangon Region, where almost all the military-appointed administrators of wards and villages recently left their jobs in fear of retaliatory action by people’s defense forces.

The locals said the random fire took place around 9 pm on 14 October when the local PDF issued a statement to appreciate the resignation of administrators who were regarded as the pillars of the regime.

“They fired guns into the air with the aim of threatening the locals. It occurred near a police station and in some villages,” said a local source.

Shootings also took place at three other places in the town which borders Bago Region.

The formation of an acting interim public administration body in Khanyan Township under the National Unity Government (NUG) was announced on 12 October.
