On August 2, a statement was released that the Myanmar National Defence Force (MNDF) had been formed after collecting various members of People’s Defence Forces (PDFs).

The statement said that it was formed: to eradicate the military council that has illegally seized state power and to support the transition process to a new federal democratic state.

The Myanmar National Defence Force (MNDF) is made up of members of PDFs across Myanmar.

It announced that the MNDF will abide by the guidelines of the National Unity Government (NUG) and stand with the people.

The Central League of the Myanmar National Defence Army (MNDF) said it had made a promise to protect the lives and property of the people and eradicate followers of the military dictators in accordance with the four pledges of the People's Defence Force (PDF).
