Since the Military Council troop blocks and arson attack to food aid to Karenni refugees, it is a crime against humanity according to the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC).

At the base of the Loi Yin Mountains near Moebye on the Shan-Karenni border, rice and medicine to the refugees were burned by the Terrorist Military Council on June 11.

"As you heard, We are helping the refugees with rice, cooking oil, and salt and they are on the blockade. I would like to point out that this kind of destruction is inhumane and is a crime against humanity. Initially, we heard that there was a shortage of people on the other side of the border and the rice we were transporting to our refugees in the jungle was being destroyed," said the KSCC's Humanitarian Focal.

In addition, food routes to Karenni refugees were blocked as well as cars flying with white flags were injured because of the fire by the Military Council.

"Though we show a white flag, we are fired and injured. Currently, it is the latest case of firing guns while carrying food, and before that, as we all know, a Catholic church was also threatened. Then, we, people who were helping in assisting the refugee especially food transporters, and were fired guns. Currently, we have seen this letter as a very heinous crime against humanity in our tribe, and we see it as pushing for a more serious situation in what we call humanitarianism,” said the KSCC's Humanitarian Focal.

In Karenni State, the Military Council has increased its reinforcements especially in Demoso Township, where daily fighting is taking place and intensified.

Around 100,000 people are fleeing the fighting daily in Karenni State and villages around the Shan-Karenni border due to the fighting.

The United Nations in Myanmar on June 8 called with a statement on the Security Council troops to allow humanitarian aid to travel safely to other parts of the country, including Karenni State, and to allow direct access to all those in urgent need.
