NANG SENG NOM — Police seized more than 1.8 billion kyat (more than US$1.2 million) worth of drugs and weapons in a bust in Muse, northern Shan State on Friday.

In total, there were 25 kilograms of “ice,” nearly eight kilograms of heroin, and a major haul of methamphetamine pills. There were also rifles and pistols found in a home searched by police in Swam Sor ward at 1:00 a.m. on May 15.

Police placed 10 Chinese nationals under arrest who lacked official travel documents, after a raid on Da Zhou Dikaw nightclub. They took some 15 laptops and cell phones.

They also arrested another three Chinese nationals at the Yui Lon Soung Ner spa also in Swam Sor ward at around 2:30 a.m. on the same day.

Four more people were arrested in homes tipped off as being part of the drug trade.

“The Chinese nationals, the weapons and the illicit drugs were systematically transferred to Muse Myoma police station,” a police officer told SHAN.

A bomb reportedly went off at a building belonging to the Pangsay militia in Swam Sor ward last month.
