Myanmar to distribute 6.3 million masks in April, State Counsellor says

Oak Hmu Zaw — State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said in a Facebook post posted on April 5 that 6.3 million masks would be distributed for people in April through the Ministry of Health.

Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Thar Tun Kyaw said that the ministry would make an announcement on how these 6.3 million masks in the possession of ministry would be distributed.

“We will give priority to high risk people and those who have close contact with patients. Our ministry will add more specifications for distribution of these masks. We will distribute them after specifying who will be given these masks,” Dr. Thar Tun Kyaw said.

Besides the distribution of masks to the people, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said on April 5 in her Facebook post that the government would work for the livelihood of menial workers, giving concessions on electricity bills and internet data bills during the shutdown of workplaces and Thingyan (water festival) vacation.
