The Kyauk Yan village administrator and three civilians from Buthidaung Township, who have been charged under Counter-Terrorism Law, have been released on 27 August, Arakan State MP for Buthidaung Township said.
Village administrator U San Maung, village teacher Naing Aung Tun, U Kyaw Thu Soe from Kyauk Yan village, Maung Tun Sein from Thayet Pyin village and Maung Phyu Daung from Phoen Nyo Late village were arrested on 9 and 10 August and a lawsuit was opened under section 50(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
Among them, U San Maung, U Kyaw Thu Soe, U Maung Tun Sein and Maung Phyu Daung have been released by Buthidaung Township court, said U Tun Aung Thein, regional lawmaker from Buthidaung Township.
Five of them were prosecuted for setting fire to the Lay Myo station near Kyar Nyo Byin village, but only the village teacher Naing Aung Tun has not been released because he has been charged with two sections; one more case added on 21 August under section 52(a).
Another school teacher has been facing trial. Nay Zaw Lin, a primary school teacher in Pyin Chaung village was arrested on 7 August and charged under section 50 (a) and 52 (b) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.
