Police officer stabbed in Kyauktaw

The head of Kyauktaw Township police was stabbed on the evening of 19 August, he received severe injuries and was treated at Sittwe General Hospital.

Police Major Saw Than Lwin received three stabs while he was at the strand road near Kyauktaw town’s Seikkan office at about 5p.m, said a local resident who asked not to be named.

Although other police were near the police major, no one could arrest the assailant.

“It happened near the jetty. We don’t know who did it,” said U Tun Win, Pyithu Hluttaw representative for Ponnagyun Township.

Police chief in Arakan State Colonel Kyi Lin said:” We can’t say who the culprit is it at the moment.”
