The family of the missing man has requested help in locating him.

Hpungjung La Seng, a farmer from the village of Maw-one in Kachin State’s Hpakant Township, has been missing since July 31, according to family members.

The father of five, who lived in Maw-one’s ward 3, disappeared while on his way to his farmland in Yay-kar-tar, a village on the Karmine-Ma-u-pin road.

“My father has been missing since Wednesday. It has been four days already. We are still trying to find him. We found some of his belongings at our farmland, including his clothes. But we still can’t find him. He is still missing,” his son, Hpungjung Sut Naw Hpan, told KNG.

There are a number of armed groups based in the area, including the Burma Army, the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) Brigade 9, and the Shanni People’s Militia Force. All three use the Karmine-Hpakant road.

Hpungjung La Seng left his farmland in Yay-kar-tar following clashes between the Burma Army and KIA forces in Hpakant Township in 2011. He started working on the land again earlier this year.
