H1N1 death toll reaches 65

The Ministry of Health and Sports issued press statement saying the H1N1 virus has killed 65 from January 2019 to July 21, 2019.

During this six-month period, 824 patients suspected of being infected with H1N1 virus were sent for laboratory test and 349 patients were found infected out of which 65 have died.

Yangon Region is ranked first with 52 deaths with this seasonal influenza and 4 died of this virus in Ayeyarwady Region, 3 died in Mon State, 2 each in Bago and Sagaing Regions, and one each in Kachin State and Magway Region.

Out of 42 townships in Yangon Region, no deaths have yet been reported in Kyauktan, Kyauktada, Taikkyi, Kayan, Dagon, Tamwe, Lanmadaw, Bahan, Latha, Kamayut, Insein, Dala and South Okkalapa Townships so far.

Prevention and education campaigns for this H1N1 virus were reportedly conducted by Ministry of Health and Sports.
