India’s Chin repatriation process postponed due to bad weather

A repatriation process to send over 200 Myanmar refugees back to their villages in Myanmar has been postponed due to bad weather, eastmojo reported.

The attempt to repatriate the refugees from south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district to Myanmar was made on Saturday.

The official said the repatriation process has to be deferred due to rainfall that will create inconvenience for the refugees to reach their respective villages.

Fleeing conflict between Myanmar Army and Arakan Army (AA), nearly 1,750 refugees mostly Zakhai community from Paletwa and neighbouring villages in Myanmar’s Rakhine state entered Mizoram in November, 2017.
