NLD party spokesman Dr. Myo Nyunt confirmed to Mizzima that a complaint letter lodged against Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister Dr. Lei Lei Maw reached party headquarters on January 24.

Myanmar media recently reported that Tanintharyi CM was involved in nepotism in her administration and had appointed a relative in the post of PA to the CM, and was awarding government tenders to companies owned by her relatives.

The complaint letter included these accusations.

Party spokesman Dr. Myo Nyunt said that they would look into the accusations in accordance with the prescribed procedures.

A party directive dated April 2, 2016 and signed by State Counsellor and President Office Minister Aung San Suu Kyi bars appointing spouses, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews and nieces, grandsons and granddaughters as PAs in government institutions.

Mizzima contacted CM Dr. Lei Lei Maw but there was no reply.
