Ten companies qualify for building Yangon Elevated Express Way Phase 1

The Ministry of Construction announced the list of ten shortlisted companies, out of 12 that qualified for building Yangon Elevated Expressway Phase 1 project.

In an announcement dated December 5, four Chinese companies, one company each from France, Japan and Korea, a Myanmar-Japan joint venture company, a Thai-Chinese joint venture company and China-Myanmar joint venture company were included.

This project which will be jointly implemented by Ministry of Construction and Yangon Region Government in Public Private Partnership (PPP) is one of the priority projects of Yangon government. The objective of the project is reportedly to ease terrible traffic congestion in Yangon.

Shortlisted companies may contest tender bidding. The Ministry of Construction said that these shortlisted companies must submit their Request of Proposal and the ministry will issue them a Concession Agreement.

This project is scheduled to be completed within 3 years and it will start 2019.

This Yangon Elevated Expressway Project Phase 1 will start from Botataung Pagoda Road and end at Mingaladon Khayaypin junction.
