By-election candidates announced in Myitkyina

The District Commission branch announced on Monday (August 6) the list of candidates who are running for a seat in the Amyotha Hluttaw to represent Myitkyina Township, Kachin State in the upcoming by-election in November.

Six party representatives and independent candidates will run for the vacant seat to represent Myitkyina Constituency – 2.

The six candidates are U Gumgrawng Awng Kham from the Kachin Democratic Party (KDP), Daw Khin Ohn from the Shan-ni and Northern Shan Ethnics Solidarity Party (SNSP), U Si Hu Dwai from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), Daw Yang Hkawn from the National League for Democracy (NLD), Daw MD Khaw Nyoi from the United Nationalities Federal Democracy Party (UNFDP), and independent candidate Dr Than Htike Oo.

The by-election will be held on November 3 and 114 polling stations will be opened in Myitkyina Township.
