Tatmadaw reinforce troops in KIO headquarters areas

The Tatmadaw has been sending troop reinforcements in the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) headquarters near China border while it is launching military offensives in western and northern Kachin State, according to the KIO.

The troop reinforcement has been sent to KIO headquarters areas in Laiza, Mai Ja Yang, Laisin Bum, and Hpalap Bum in eastern Kachin State.

“It’s been three days since [the Tatmadaw] entered in the direction of KIO headquarters after retreating from Awng Lawt and KIA (Kachin Independence Army) 4th battalion areas. They haven’t come to replace the existing troops because we don’t see the existing troops retreating,” said Lt-Col Nhpang Naw Bu, information officer of the KIO Laiza.

Although the Tatmadaw troops have retreated after launching offensives against the KIA in Injangyang, Hpakant, and Tanai townships, they have not left the Kachin State, he continued.

He added that troop reinforcement has been sent to Gara Yang, Gangdau Yang, Namsan Yang, Hkaya Bum, Laja Yang, and Dawhpum Yang along Myitkyina-Bhamo Road and the area between Nmawk and Sinlum Bum and Yaw Yung.

Local residents said the Tatmadaw has been active in KIA Brigade 6 area 105 mile, Pang Hseng (Kyu Koke), and Mong Ko areas in the northern Shan State.
