A report said that government schools in Mindat and Kanpalet townships in Chin state have been facing a problem on teaching vernacular language.

As the appointed teachers cannot teach the local language called ‘Cho’ in government schools in Mindat, Kanpalet, Thilyin and Saw townships, the students cannot get proper teaching on their own language, said Pa Ng’ Thang Om Pang.

“The authority had appointed teachers from other states, not from the locals who are qualified to teach the vernacular language. Then, the appointed teachers cannot speak even in Cho,” he said.

Besides, the vernacular language cannot teach in regular school timing, but to teach after school period. It caused difficulties for the students.

‘Cho’ language is mainly used in Mindat and Kanpalet townships in Chin state.
