Police forces raided the Sat Yok displacement camp in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State, on Thursday, arresting a local resident.

The detained individual has been identified as 32-year-old Ko Chit Hlaing, a resident of the Sat Yok Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

A Sittwe resident informed Narinjara that more than 20 officers from Police Station No. 2 conducted the raid and executed the arrest on May 21.

"Police officers from Police Station No. 2 raided the house and arrested him without providing any reason," a camp resident stated.

A female resident of the IDP camp noted that Ko Chit Hlaing has been held incommunicado since his arrest, with authorities denying family visits as of May 23.

"The police are not allowing his family to meet him, nor have they disclosed the reason for his arrest. The entire neighborhood is now living in fear," she added.

This incident follows a previous crackdown on May 9, when military and police forces arrested six Rakhine individuals at a Sittwe monastery. One of those detainees died at the scene after being severely beaten and tortured.
