Over 13,000 Displaced in Bilin Township as Airstrikes Trigger Urgent Aid Needs

More than 13,000 residents from 13 villages in Bilin Township, Mon State, have been displaced by airstrikes carried out by the military junta, with urgent humanitarian assistance now needed, according to aid workers.

Clashes are ongoing in the Lay Kay and Win Ta Pan areas, where joint revolutionary forces are conducting offensives to seize military bases. In response, the military has launched repeated airstrikes.

Due to the aerial bombardments, residents from villages in Win Ta Pan, Myit Kyo, and Min Saw village tracts have been forced to flee their homes and seek safety in multiple locations.

“Fighting is taking place in Lay Kay and Win Ta Pan areas of Bilin Township as revolutionary joint forces carry out offensives. There are many displaced people, and they are taking shelter in various safe places,” said a volunteer assisting displaced communities in Thaton District.

The Karen National Union (KNU) stated that the military has carried out at least 30 airstrikes targeting civilian-populated villages and workplaces in Bilin Township.

Displaced residents are in urgent need of shelter, food, and healthcare assistance, according to aid providers.

During one airstrike, five civilians who were temporarily resting at a pavilion near Kyaikhtiyo Lay Pagoda in Myit Kyo village tract were injured.

Two local women, Naw In Khin Khine, 26, and Naw Mu Naw Bi, 18, from Kyauk Phyar village, were also injured in separate incidents.

The KNU reported that the airstrikes destroyed three vehicles, a fuel shop, and multiple civilian homes. Rubber plantations and agricultural farms were also damaged by fire following the attacks.
