More than 200 junta troops fired warning shots and stormed Kangyi Village in Magway Region, just over 10 miles from resistance-controlled Mindat Town in Chin State, and remain deployed in the village, reportedly trapping some residents inside.
Dozens of soldiers, who had left Kyaukhtu Town in Saw Township, Magway Region, entered Kangyi Village at around 5:30 p.m. on April 26, firing warning shots.
Afterwards, reinforcements arrived from Kyaukhtu in military trucks, bringing the total force to about 210 soldiers, who are currently stationed in the village, locals reported.
As of April 27, regime troops remained positioned inside the village, including at crossroads, in the school compound, and near bridges.
Because many soldiers are stationed in the village, some residents are reportedly trapped and unable to leave.
Kangyi Village is located just over 10 miles from Mindat Town and serves as a key road access point to Saw Town in Magway Region as well as Mindat and Kanpetlet towns in Chin State.
Mindat Town has been under the control of the Chin Brotherhood (CB) Alliance since December 21, 2024.
As military tensions in the region escalate due to the close deployment of junta troops, resistance forces have urged the public to avoid using the Saw–Kyaukhtu–Mindat Road whenever possible and to remain vigilant.
