Thinzar Nwe — Two women were killed in a junta airstrike on Mee Kyung Yee Thout village under  Kyaukphyu township of Rakhine State on Tuesday. The air force personnel bombed the village with a jet fighter at 4 pm on 17 February, said a local villager.

"An elderly woman and a teenager were killed. The village is located in Kyaukphyu township and very close to Madae island, which hosts a Chinese gas & oil project with a tanker port," he added.

The junta forces bombed the area with jet fighters twice and also used machine guns.

“The locals become scared to live inside the village. Currently, the villages under  Kyaukphyu locality are facing  attacks from the junta forces. Many of them fled from their places searching safer destinations,” he stated.

The junta forces also attacked Kyat Tin village in Nga Lone Su village-tract under Kyaukphyu locality on 17 February.

A local resident revealed that a drone dropped the bomb at 3 pm. The bomb fell in the field and  so there was no casualty. However, the attack caused a panic situation among the villagers.

All villages under the control of Arakan Army  in the township are being targeted by the military junta with drones, jets and navy aircrafts. The civilian casualties are increasing every day.

On the evening of 15 February, a navy aircraft fired artillery at Nga/Ok  and Wa Myaung villages under  Kyaukphyu township. Three artillery shells fell and exploded in Wa Myaung village killing a 7-year-old child and a woman on the spot as well as injuring five others.

Similarly, five artillery shells landed in Ngaouk village  injuring three women including two internally displaced individuals.

Earlier on 14 February, a junta navy ship, stationed in the sea below Kyaukkalay village under  Kyaukphyu township, fired four artillery shells targeting Kyauk Prauk village, which killed an 80-year-old woman.
