Airstrikes hit Namhsan Township, Northern Shan State

Casualties were reported after airstrikes hit Namhsan Township in northern Shan State, on two consecutive days, 21  and 22 October 2024.

A monastery was hit and suffered some damage to its buildings when a junta airstrike hit Kyauk Phyu Lay Village in Namhsan Township at around 8:30 a.m. on 21 October, according to a statement from the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) News and Information Department.

Then, on 22 October at about 1:00 am, junta aircraft dropped 500-pound bombs on Homine Village in Namhsan Township, controlled by the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA), causing casualties.

A resident of Homine Village said: “The airstrikes have been conducted for two consecutive days, including yesterday and today. Airstrikes hit Homine Village shortly after 1:00 am today. They also conducted an airstrike on Kyauk Phyu Lay village yesterday. I heard there were reports of civilian casualties.”

According to initial reports the airstrike on Homine Village caused casualties , but currently no further details are known and more information is being sought.

Similarly, on 21 October, several buildings were damaged when a junta airstrike hit an area near Mansu Pagoda on Shantaungtan Road, in Lashio Town’s Ward 12.
