AA Seizes Two More Border Guard Posts -in Maungdaw Junta Battalions Flee

The Arakha Army (AA) has captured the Inndin 6th Border Guard Police (BGP-6) – the Myinhlut 9th Border Guard Police Battalion (BGP-9) located in the southern part of Maungdaw township in Rakhine State.

Reliable sources confirmed to DMG that AA captured BGP-6 at dawn on June 6 and BGP-9 on the morning of June 7.

"It is true that AA has captured BGP-9, and all Junta troops in that battalion have fled.

The AA is currently carrying out area clearance operations at the site. BGP-6 was seized by AA yesterday as well”, a frontline source said. The fleeing Junta troops have joined and merged forces at Mawyawadi BGP-4.

After capturing two other BGP battalions near Kyaukpana village on the Angumaw-Maungdaw Road on June 2, AA continued its attacks on BGP-6 and BGP-9.

According to reliable sources, the Junta has deployed a total of 4,000 troops, including300 snipers, other combat units, and recently coerced and trained Rohingya personnel, in Maungdaw to counter AA's offensive.

Throughout the ongoing clashes in Maungdaw, the Junta employed airstrikes, and artillery shelling from Junta bases in Maungdaw and Sittwe, targeting AA positions.

"Following the capture of Inndin (BGP-6), AA kept up their attack on BGP-2 and BGP-9 without pause, escalating the intensity of the conflict”, the frontline source said.

Currently ongoing fighting between Shwetaung and Sabaikone villages in Maungdaw township is also escalating, locals reported.

Civilians are trapped in Maungdaw, with some held hostage by Junta troops alongside fighters from Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO), another source told DMG.

"Some people in the town have been taken hostage, but the exact number is not known yet. AA faces obstacles to advance into the town for now, so the current situation there remains unclear”, he said.

AA has already captured many of the Junta bases and outposts in Maungdaw, leaving only 4-Mile BGP-2, Myothugyi BGP-5, and Mawyawadi BGP-4 as military bases still in the hands of the regime.
