Matupi CDF Brigade 2 Joins Chinland Council

The Matupi Chinland Defence Force (CDF) Brigade 2 has agreed to cooperate with Chinland Council during an unanimous decision by representatives at its most recent conference in Matupi Township.

The Chin armed group that's fighting against the military regime in southern Chin State released a statement on May 14, a month after the conference, pledging its support for the council.

Last February, during Matupi CDF's third conference, Brigade 1 stood behind the Chinland Council and the Chinland Government, however Brigade 2 put their weight behind the Interim Chin National Consultative Council and the Chin Brotherhoods Alliance. This resulted in the fragmentation of the armed group.

Matupi CDF Brigade 1 includes Battalion 1 (Eagle) and Battalion 5 (Seenai). Additionally, the Htai Phong Defence Force has also officially announced joining Brigade 1, and the Chin Brotherhoods Alliance.

Matupi CDF Brigade 2 includes Battalion 2 (Oukchin battalion), Battalion 3 (Kaisi), Battalion 4 (Leesan), and Battalion 6 (Ikirk).

A few months after the coup, the Matupi Security Team was formed to defend the Chin people against attacks by regime forces. It later transformed into the Matupi Revolution Force and then finally the Matupi CDF on April 10, 2021.

Matupi CDF now controls all of Matupi Township except Matupi town.
