Signatory Organizations of NCA Announce New Name, 7 EAO Alliance

Following a plenary meeting, the 7 ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) declared their formation of a new alliance.

During the plenary meeting convened in Chiang Mai, Thailand, commencing on March 17, the seven organizations, referred to as NCA-S EAOs, announced their mutual decision to establish a new collective entity, uniting as the 7 EAO Alliance.

General Yawd Serk, chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), has been appointed as the leader of the 7 EAO Alliance, with Nai Aung Min, vice chairman of the New Mon State Party (NMSP), named as the second-in-command, according to the statement.

A secretariat comprising representatives from each NCA-S EAO was also established to oversee the implementation of the established protocols.

7 EAO Alliance also declared its intention to assess and deliberate upon the swiftly evolving political and military landscape in Myanmar, striving to foster peace and catalyze pivotal political advancements through inclusive dialogues involving all relevant parties.

Following remarks by Sao Harn Yawnghwe, a significant facilitator in Myanmar's peace process, in an interview with the Shan Herald, indicating that NCA had been irreparably damaged, the establishment of 7 EAO Alliance unfolded.
