KIA Declares Capture of Maji Gung Tactical Command Centre

On March 3rd, Colonel Naw Bu, the KIO information officer, confirmed Kachin Independence Army (KIA)and armed wing of KIO, successfully seized the Maji Gung tactical command center in Mansi Township in Bhamo District, where three battalions of the Junta had been stationed.

The 102nd and 250th Infantry Battalions along with the 427th Light Infantry Battalion were stationed at the hill-based tactical command centre. The KIA launched an offensive on March 1st and successfully captured it on March 3rd, Colonel Naw Bu told MNJ.

"We initiated our offensive against Maji Gung on March 1st, and after three days, we successfully took it over”, he said.

Following the battle, a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition were confiscated from the enemy, however, at present, the comprehensive list of seized weapons has yet to be compiled, he added. Colonel Naw Bu also confirmed casualties on both sides, but precise numbers are yet to be determined.

Furthermore, on February 19th, KIA and joint resistance forces successfully captured a fortified Junta base in Sihkamgyi village located in Mansi Township.

Since the start of 2024, the conflict between KIA and the Junta has notably escalated, with KIA achieving several military victories in capturing camps and bases.
