Two international organizations will work together with accountability in support of the development of Rathedaung and Gwa Townships in Arakan state, said Chief Minister of Arakan state, U Maung Maung Ohn, at the honoring ceremony of outstanding students of Arakan state in Sittwe city in Burma on 19 April.

Currently, Rathedaung Township is taken as a Model Township sponsored by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and New Zealand will subsidize for Gwa Township’s development plan, he continued.

Rathedaung and Gwa Townships are the slowest developed townships in Arakan state. As a result, the development of these townships will be implemented by the cooperation of international organizations.

Moreover, there are two companies proposed for implementation of Ponnagyun industrial project. Out of two companies, one will be chosen for the venture. After the project is completed, 50,000 to 100,000 employments will be created and they (authority) are planning to provide salaries in line with international standard, said chief minister.

In Burma, Thilawa harbor in Yangon can allow docking just for 80,000-tonne sea vessels, and Kyaukpyu deep seaport in Arakan state is only one that is able to allow harboring 300,000-tonne sea vessel. So, Arakan state is naturally first-rate potential region to become industrialized area, Chief Minister of Arakan state said.
