Paletwa residents send letter to Thein Sein demanding more electricity

A petition letter with 279 signatures demanding adequate electricity for Paletwa residents in Chin state was sent to Burma’s President Thein Sein, on July 18.

Three blocks of the town receive electricity for only one and-a-half hours a day by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Burma. The power shortages are affecting local businesses, students, and even municipal offices.

On the petition letter Paletwa residents asked for at least three-hours of electricity each day. Signatures were collected from three of the six blocks in the town.

A similar letter was drafted and sent to President Thein Sein from residents of Matupi who also suffer from power shortages, on July 3

The signatures were collected from three of the town’s four blocks.

Chin state is the poorest state in the country and receives the lowest power supply.
